Management, Management, what are you?
I say you are difficult.
I say you are delegated.
And I say you are dangerous.
Management, Management, what are you?
Duties are hard to accomplish.
Directions are complicated to follow.
And decisions are need to be made cautiously.
Management, Management, what are you?
All elements and characteristics of you are negative,
But once you have them you are tight,
right,
light,
and great.
Management, you could be fun or tedium.

Communication via Blog
Overall I think this blog assignment is a interesting communication tool for this management class. I think that this blog is very interesting and unique in terms of the connection between the class lecture and the course itself. I say interesting because I've never had a blog of mine and this is the very first time I created my first blog. The first time doing something is always very interesting to me. I also say this blog assignment is unqiue because I haven't heard of any courses that have this kind of assignment.
I agree that this blog assignment have a great amount of contribution to this management course. This blog assignment did help me get to learn what the activities that were done in class are related to management through reading other people's blogs. It helps me think back on the activity itself and also management. Though I don't think that this blog helped me in meeting people online. Maybe because this is an assignment I just do what is asked to do, which is posting on your own blog and responding to others' blogs. I just go through the class's list of blog URLs and just pick one to read and respond. I don't look at the names because I don't know who is who and even though I know their names, I do not know their faces in class. So I don't really think this blog benefited me in terms of meeting people online. As for the posts on the professor's blog, I think they were somewhat interesting topics because they help me to learn and relate them to management. And this blog is a somewhat easy 20% of my grade. All there is to do is post my thoughts and opinions and then reply to others' thoughts and opinions. This all depends of the person's point of view, which do not require any hard thinking at all.
So, I think this blog assignment is very straight forward and it is a good part of the management course. I think that I will continue this blog in the near future and post all kinds of topics that I would like to share with people. This is the first blog I created and therefore, wants to keep it going.

The Leadership/Management Diagnostic Test
Are you a D, I, S, or C from the leadership/management diagnostic test? The result after conducting the diagnostic test in class was that I am a S (steadiness) and a high in C (conscientiousness). I think that the results were pretty much correct overall. The description of a steadiness person is that one like to demonstrate patience, desires to help others, shows loyalty, etc. I am this kind of person, but I don't agree on the "cooperating with others to carry out the task" part because I don't really like group work. I tend to like to get tasks done by doing them alone. And as for a conscientiousness person, I do work "conscientiously within existing circumstances to ensure quality and accuracy." Whenever I have to get something done, at work or in school, I am very serious about it and hope that the outcome will be good. I really like things to be accurate so that I'll know what to do and how to do it.
Basically, I think I am both a type C and S. I am a conscientious and steady person that can not dominate or influence others. I do not have those powers and would not like such powers. So, I think the result of the leadership/management diagnostic test is pretty accurate. I also think that it will be very help if I know what type people are around me. If I know what type that person is, I will then know how to act toward that person in order to cooperate smoothly in terms of relationships and/or work. I think that if we know what others' personalities are like, then it will be a lot easier to work things out in all kind of situations.

The VISION that give future....
I think the video that we saw in class about "Vision" and its concept was pretty interesting. We all think about what we want to accomplish something in a certain amount of time. This could be a short-term or long-term goal that we are setting ourselves that may or may not happen. The percentage of it happening or not depends on the amount of effort we put into it. I really like one the statements that got repeated throughout the video, which is "vision without action is just a dream/action without vision merely wastes time/vision with action can make things happen." I totally agree with it and think that it is a true factual concept.
I, like many others, have visions too. I look and think into the future of what I want myself to be doing. The first vision that I want to see myself accomplish is to graduate from college. In order to see this college degree, I would have to concentrate more on my studies. I have to take more time in school work, rather than working and doing other things. After that, I hope to get a decent good job that can pay my living expenses and also have some to be saved for future use. I hope that the job that I wish to work in show some "getting along with others around the area" kind of environment, which I know is hard to find. I am looking forward to see this come true. I will try my best to find it by concentrating on my studies and doing some research (which will involve peers). Within the next five years I would also like to spend some time going to other countries to relax, in another word, taking vacations. I have lots of places that I want to visit, so I hope to go at least one of them. I know that I will not have enough money to go on vacation every year, but one should be affordable. I will just have to work hard to enough money.
Each and every vision that we have in our mind may come true if we take action, but without action it will just be an dream in wonderland.

Decision Making = CHAOS
The first word that came to my mind about the class’ decision making process on 10/15/2007 is chaos. There were some limitations that the professor set at the very beginning, so we have scarce resources in determining our decision. This gave the biggest problem of all because the class is not going to know if the decisions that we made will work/approve. Then there was the person in charge issue because there were a couple of people in charge, in which each have their own opinions that then leads to poor communications.
The test result was that a majority of students didn't do so good since the curve was made with one grade higher than our originally grade. This wasn't satistfied by the majority of the class since there were proposals on giving extra credits, rewriting the essays, and making some changes to the next exam due to its difficulty on this one. And the chaos starts right here. During the class’ decision making process, the majority of the people handle it by competiting to win their own idea. Everyone have their own ideas to try to make their grades more desirable and meaningful. The whole class seem to can not decide how many extra credit points to have until the last couple minutes of class, we finally made some compromises and collaboration.
I personally was very into the dicusion at the beginning, but turned into avoidance after afterwards. Everyone in the classroom were yelling back and forth at each other and shouting out all kinds of ideas that people don't tend to agree on. I then realized that we are heading nowhere if this chaos continues, so I just lean back and watch what will happen at the very end. After getting more information about the decision making process, I think the best way to handle this conflict is through collaboration due to the fact that we have a large discussion group. We should have divided the class into groups and let each group come up with ideas due to a large number of people involved in the decision making. Then the class as a whole will vote on the best one stating that "it is either this or that" idea. This method save us some arguing time and give more desirable results. I think this method will be more efficient in decision making with some many people involved.

Let Go My EGGO!
I think my team did almost all the 5 steps of the planning process. We know very clearly what the objective was, which was to design some kind of contraption to hold an egg. We only have our limited resources of 8 straws and 2 feet of tape to build this model that have to show at least 50% of the the egg. My team came up with quite some models and discussed if it would work if it were built. At this point we started to argue with model to build and would actually work with our limited resources. We all have different opinions on with of the couple of models we came up with would work best. We just picked the last model we had.
I guess my team and I didn't really take step 3 into consideration, which is generating alternative scenarios. Because we have very limited time to develop and take of the plan, we had to rush. Due to the limited time and resources available, we were kind of rushing when it came to building our model. I think that we had a little more time and get a chance to play around with the limit resources we have, our model might be better. Overall, I think my team is pretty effective. To be more effective, I think we should assign a task for each person and start from there.

Hi to all of you out there!
How is everyone doing? I have been struggling with time ever since I started high school. Everyday I have to go to school for 8 hours, which is very long. After school, there is always homework and/or studying to do. I don't tend to do them until the very last minute because they are not important until the time comes. Now that I am in college, class schedules are very flexible, but there is still homework and studying and on top of that I have to work. I always fight with time when it comes to these things. Every now and then will be doing my homework on the day its due, studying the night before a test, or running to work due to the shortage of time.
I consider myself to be a very organized person because I clean up my home every now and then so that I will be able to find things more easily. The problem is I just can't manage my precious time. HELP!!!

HELLOOOO......
At this moment in time you are reading this little paragraph because you are either reading as some kinf of requirement or you are just bored and click on this blog. Do not think that this is nothing interesting, but you may somehow or at some time find out something you like. I think that every second of an individual's life is money, TIME IS MONEY. Some people think that doing certain activities that are wait of time, like watching television or playing games, but if it makes you happy then the time is not waisted. The purpose of living is to enjoy all the time one has. I hope that you can express whatever you want here. Welcome!
